7TH GRADE CONCERT BAND

th Grade Band students will perform two to three times per year. Additionally, the group will perform for adjudication in the spring. The fundamentals of reading and performing music will be taught, reviewed, and reinforced during rehearsals using a varied repertoire of music and supplemental material. Students will also become familiar with the composer, culture, musical theory, and history as it relates to the repertoire.

• Does a performance have to be public to be meaningful?
• How does the style of music affect the attitude of the audience?
• What musical elements are required to perform a composition as a composer intended?  
• What roles do the student and conductor play in the musical interpretation of a composition?

• How do the elements of music affect expression in music?
• Why do we like the music we like?
• What elements are required to create a characteristic sound on your instrument?
