Galvin Middle School Jazz Band

The Jazz Bands are auditioned groups comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The Jazz Bands rehearse on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:55-7:40am or 2:20-3:15pm in the band room. Members are expected to attend all rehearsals as well as performances. The Galvin Jazz Bands perform several times a year, including the annual Winter Concert, the annual Jazz Night, as well as the Spring Concert. Additional performances may include community service performances, as well as the Massachusetts Association of Jazz Educators (MAJE) Middle School Festival. Students will be working on a varied repertoire of music from different music genres such as Swing, Rock, Latin, and Funk. Additionally, students will become familiar with the composer, culture, musical theory, and history as it relates to the repertoire.
