GALVIN MUSIC FESTIVAL Chaperone Information
· 8am – Report to the Mac Lab (room 145 in the music wing) in GMS at 8am for a short, but important chaperone meeting. You will receive a Galvin Music Festival T-shirt at the meeting.
· 8:10am – 11am – In the auditorium in the morning, chaperones are expected to sit in the audience with the students and manage behavior during the performances/clinics, as well as regulate bathroom use (one student may go to the bathroom at a time). Please otherwise keep students in their seats and quiet during the performances/clinics. Some other music classes may be coming in to listen in the audience for some periods – please just have them sit together in one section of the auditorium, and try to keep them quiet.
· 11:10am – Lunch outside on the grass by the music wing (or in the music rooms/hallways if it rains). Students will form groups of 4 in order to receive a box of pizza and one water bottle/cookie each. Chaperones will be given pizza, cookies, and water.
· 11:30am – Once students and chaperones are finished with their pizza, they may board their assigned bus. Once all students are on the buses, chaperones will take attendance of the students on their bus and make sure everyone is present and on the correct bus. In the past, we have been held up because many students got on the wrong bus, so make sure to count the students and make sure you don’t have anyone on the bus who shouldn’t be on there.
· 11:40am – Buses will depart for Canobie. There will be at least two chaperones per bus. On the bus, chaperones should do a final head count, and text (or call) their headcount (# of students and # of chaperones) to Jenna DiMento. This is important so that we can have the correct number of student tickets and chaperone tickets ready to distribute to your bus when you arrive at the park. Please also make sure all students on your bus who have a phone have signed up for our Remind 101 group.
· 12:15pm – Buses arrive at Canobie Lake Park. Students and chaperones will stay on their bus until Ms. DiMento has distributed a bundle of park tickets to that bus. Please remind students to take their trash and belongings off the bus! Chaperones will receive free admission to the park.
· 12:15pm – 4pm – Students are free to roam around the park as long as they stay in groups of 3 (or more) at all times. Students are NOT allowed to go into the water park, but they may go on the other water rides. Students must keep their Galvin Music Festival t-shirts on and visible at all times, and no bathing suits! Chaperones may enjoy the park, but please keep an eye out for students who are misbehaving or not in groups of 3+. Chaperones will be assigned half hour shifts to stand by the front gate of the park in case a student needs something. Call one of the music teachers if you encounter a problem that you need help with, or if a student is misbehaving.
· 4:00pm – Students and chaperones will all gather at the entrance of the park by 4pm and will head to the buses together. The park closes at 4pm. Students and chaperones should return on the same bus that they came on.
· 4:15pm – Chaperones take a final head count on the bus and make sure all students returned. If any students are missing, inform one of the music teachers either by finding them, texting them, or calling them. Once all the students are accounted for, the buses will leave together for the Galvin. When you are about 20 minutes away from the Galvin, it's a great idea to suggest that the students on your bus text/call their parents to give them an ETA (if they have a phone).
· 4:45pm-ish – Buses arrive at the Galvin, and students are picked up by parents. Please remind students to take their trash and belongings off the bus. You’re free! Thank you so much for chaperoning!
